What's the difference between home care and home health care?
Home care is non-medical help with everyday life: companionship, meals, housekeeping, errands and personal care. Home health care is skilled medical care, such as nursing or therapy, ordered by a doctor. Mariam Family Care provides non-medical home care.
How much does home care cost?
Cost depends on how many hours of care are needed and what kind of help. After a free consultation, we give you a clear quote in writing.
Does Medicare pay for home care?
Medicare generally doesn't cover ongoing non-medical home care. Many families pay privately or use long-term care insurance or veterans' benefits. We're happy to talk through your options.
How do you choose and screen caregivers?
Every caregiver is interviewed, reference-checked and background-checked before working with a client. We match caregivers to each client's needs, personality and language.
Will my parent have the same caregiver each time?
We aim for consistency. We assign a primary caregiver and keep them with your loved one whenever possible.
What areas do you serve?
Leesburg and communities across Loudoun County, including Ashburn, Lansdowne, Purcellville, Sterling and Brambleton. Call +1 (202) 460-9544 to check your area.
Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Many long-term care policies cover in-home care. Check your policy's home care benefits, and ask us about the care records your insurer may need.
Can veterans get help paying for home care?
Some veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA benefits that help pay for care at home. Contact the VA or a VA-accredited representative to check eligibility.
What if the caregiver is sick or we're not a good fit?
We'll arrange a backup caregiver. And if the match doesn't feel right, just tell us and we'll find someone better suited.
Do your caregivers speak languages other than English?
We do our best to match your loved one with a caregiver who shares their language and understands their culture.
